You and your guests will spend a magnificent week in one of the world’s most majestic outdoor wonderlands, Telluride, Colorado, in the splendid home of Network 20/20 Board Chair Anne Mai, and her husband Vincent.
Come and choose from an array of outdoor activities: Telluride’s ski mountain, which is lauded for its variety of terrain, is 15 minutes away. Nordic skiing through endless groomed back-country trails is a feature of the area as the old mining railroad grades (tracks long since removed) provide the perfect cross-country skiing pitch. You can also enjoy dog sledding, sleigh rides, and heli-skiing, with Telluride being one of the few U.S. resorts with a daily heli-skiing operation. The low-key and artsy village of Telluride, where you will find shops, services, and top-rated restaurants, is 15 minutes away.
Alternatively, summer visits are great for hiking, riding, golf, hot air balloon and glider rides, fly fishing, rock climbing, and river rafting.
Telluride is located at the 4 corners —New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, and Arizona, so you can also explore neighboring states. The Mesa Verde cliff dwellings, which date back to the 12th century and are among the best-preserved archeological sites in North America, are close by, and the spectacular Canyonlands in Utah are about 3 hours by car. There are also some wonderful summer festivals.
This beautiful hideaway, with its spectacular views of neighboring 14,000-foot peaks, sports a kitchen with a wood-burning pizza oven; four bedrooms; a bunk room with six spacious bunks. The house is comprised of three connected historic barns, furnished primarily with 19th-century American antiques, all chosen to be absolutely childproof. This spectacular home and its 35 acres are surrounded by protected land so the snowshoeing and hiking is limitless—and right outside the door.
Fine Print
For 2 to 10 people | 7 days | Fly 4 hours to Denver + 40 minutes to Montrose or Telluride where there will be a Chevrolet Suburban, seating 8, waiting at the airport for you and at your disposal for the week. In the winter there is a weekly direct flight to Montrose. The drive between Montrose and Telluride is about 1 ½ hours and is stunningly gorgeous.
