Visit the Cape Ann Museum where you will find the works of Hopper and the many other artists who painted the area. Visit the Hammond Castle Museum, an actual European-style castle on the New England shoreline. Stroll through the exhibits at the oldest continually operating art colony in the United States. Gloucester is a city just 40 miles north of Boston, the oldest fishing port in America. The community-driven nature of Gloucester is homey and welcoming. Gloucester has an authentic character, having been settled as a major fishing port in the 17th century. The local stores are friendly and the restaurants provide amazing meals, especially seafood. There are numerous places to enjoy the outdoors including Cranes Beach, Wingaersheek Beach, and Halibut Point State Park.
