Description
Oil, 30" x 30"
Henry Blond is a British born oil painter originally from Liverpool in the north west of England.
With his father being an artist and his mother a keen collector, (both were gallery shareholders at Blond Fine Art in London during the 70s and 80s) he was immersed in the art world from an early age.
Before immigrating to Montana, USA in 2011, Henry spent 10 years living in Paris, France. It was during this time in the vibrant city that he reignited his love of painting after a 15 year period in the music industry. He had previously obtained his degree in Jazz Studies from the City of Leeds College of Music and performed extensively as a professional musician (guitarist) in the UK and around Europe.
With a creative background in the visual arts, music and graphic design, he manages to intertwine the creative disciplines into his paintings with rhythmic brushwork, dynamic composition and a uniquely emotional edge.
Henry is a direct painter and works in the ‘alla prima’ style of paint application, often preferring a ‘live’ immediate and energetic look to his finished work over a muted ‘cleaned up’ version. His passages of realism are juxtaposed against loose interpretation, with form appearing and disappearing to engage the viewer in full conversation.
His recent relocation to Albuquerque is seen as the perfect muse for new experience and fresh inspiration from the rich diversity and culture that New Mexico has to offer.
