Guest Artist Experience w/ Antonio Brown
Description
Networking within the dance community is a vital part of a dancer's professional career. By providing access to these guest choreographers and mentors, DASH Academy is helping to lay the foundation for pre-professional dancers. Through building relationships with these guest artists, pre-professional dancers have benefited in a multitude of ways such as invitations to summer intensives, reference letters written on their behalf, etc.
The winner of this Guest Artist Experience will receive:
- Dinner with the guest artist
- One 30 minute virtual mentor session w/ the guest artist
- Two tickets to the 2024 DASH Academy Winter Show
About Antonio:
Antonio Brown is the artistic force behind Antonio Brown Dance, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, where he began his dance training at the Cleveland School of the Arts and received his BFA from The Juilliard School. While there, he had the opportunity to perform works by Jose Limon, Ohad Naharin, Jiri Kylian, Eliot Feld, Aszure Barton, Jessica Lang, Susan Marshall, Larry Keigwin, among others. Mr. Brown has worked with many companies and artists throughout New York City including Camille A. Brown & Dancers, The DASH Ensemble, Malcolm Low/Formal Structure, Sidra Bell Dance New York, and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company for 11 years. Antonio has choreographed works for Groundworks Dance Theater, Joffrey Ballet School, Verb Ballets, The Juilliard Dance Ensemble, MOVE(NYC), August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble, Tri-C Dance Academy, Jacksonville University, Cleveland State University, Hunter College, DeSales University, The DASH Academy, Cleveland School of the Arts, Stivers School for the Arts, Perry Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp, Lehigh Valley Dance Exchange "LVDE", Theatre Askew, The Arden Theater Company’s production of “The Bluest Eye”, Drama League Director Fest, Under The Radar festival, Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance and served as movement director for The Public Theater’s Shakespeare Initiative. Antonio is currently assistant director of Tri-C Creative Arts Dance Academy,Artist in Resident choreographer for GroundWorks Dance Theater, associate choreographer for Off Broadway musical “Black No More” and choreographer and collaborator with Grammy Award winning artist Esperanza Spalding. Mr. Brown is grateful to be sharing his gifts and talents around the world.
