Four years ago, a handful of Special Forces artisans from this amazing brotherhood decided to donate a piece of their hand-made crafts, and offer them for auction.

Its purpose was to award 100% of the proceeds to the Green Beret Foundation. Don Shipman was one of the original pioneers of the auction and donated his fine cutlery. The concept was recognized by a select group of individuals equally skilled in planning and special event promotion. Through the co-op with the Green Beret Foundation, sponsorships continue to grow, and it is expected that every year will be better than the previous. Truly, a spark that has lit the flames of generosity and acknowledgement of every member of our elite ranks.

If you’re just now finding our event, mark your calendars to find us year in and year out at this time. It’ll be held starting every June 19th of each year. We picked June 19th because that’s the day the initial Special Forces unit was established in 1952, commanded by Colonel Aaron Bank.

From a friend that served with Steve:

I met Steve before he was a Green Beret. Steve and I attended SFQC together and specifically served on the same team during Robin Sage. Steve had the distinction of being the only E7 on the team and was thrust into the role of Team Sergeant. Due to his leadership and maturity, he was asked to serve as the Team Sergeant during the entirety of Robin Sage in order to allow more training opportunities for the junior guys. As we all know, Robin Sage can be quite stressful as we were nearing the end of our SFQC training and we all were pursuing that final "GO". Steve always kept the mood light and his sense of humor always brought about laughs.

While Steve was a hell of a Soldier and leader, the one thing I specifically remember about him was his pride in being a father. Steve always talked about his sons and how he enjoyed spending time with his family. Steve was a dedicated family man that loved his family and his country. He wanted to serve as an example to his sons by being a hard-working and dedicated Soldier. He did so by becoming a Green Beret. His steadfast loyalty and valor were recognized with him earning the Silver Star. Steve leaves behind a legacy of being among our nation's best. This legacy lives on through his two young sons.
