Description

Handmade, one of a kind charcuterie board. Made from a local craftsman with local wood. Approximately 9x20 in. and 1in. thickness. Blue resin coating and covered in many beautiful layers of epoxy.

A bit behind the artists work of art...

Boards are cut from a scrub oak (Gambrel Oak) on my property. From its size and rings, I believe it at least 150-200 years old. A windstorm blew it down 4-5 years ago. I cut it into manageable sections and took it down to Where Wood Meets Steel in Denver where they milled it into slabs for me. I air dried it for a year and then cut it into rough charcuterie board sections.

The tree blew down because it had some internal rot. I gouged out the rot and filled with three pours of two part epoxy, tinted blue. I then did an stained the board, followed by an epoxy pour of the bark encrusted natural edges. Final finish was three more epoxy pours over the entire surface. It is a food safe epoxy surface, but will show cuts if knife edges are used. If the epoxy is marred, it can be restored by a dry polish. Or if too badly marred, use a very fine abrasive polish similar to that done on an automobile. I use Wizards Shine Master.

Yay! No fine print
