Description
Henley (pronounced Hen-lay) was born in Boston, to a prize-winning Brahma mother and a Swedish Isbar father. Henley was lucky enough to inherit the best of both breeds; the jovial disposition, musical talent, and green eggs of her paternal lineage and the brown eggs, calm demeanor, and beauty of her maternal ancestors.
Growing up on Beacon Hill, Henley attended “bored-in-school” at Henfield Academy, spending her summers on Martha’s Vineyard. She worked at Morning Glory Farm, where her highly prized brown and green eggs sold out faster than the pies, and she won more blue ribbons at the Agricultural Fair than any other hen in the twenty-first century. Her musical talent was also impressive, and she brought her trusty kazoo wherever she roamed, often appearing on-stage with Johnny Hoy and the Henfish, and she played First Kazoo for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. While the exact story has been kept secret, it is strongly suspected that Chick was the result of a late-night dalliance with a Rhode Island Red, on the last night of the Ag Fair. Henley and her Chick are inseparable, and Chick is a musical prodigy, surpassing even her mother’s kazoo skills. Nothing makes either one happier than performing their kazoo duets for an audience! Given the difficulties of the housing market on Martha’s Vineyard, they are hoping to find a forever home soon, where they can supply their adoptive family with the most amazing fresh eggs on the Island!
