Capitals defenseman and alternate captain Brooks Orpik and his wife Erin have teamed up with Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation to raise money for Safe Shores.
Safe Shores is a direct service nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and working directly with child victims of sexual and physical abuse in the District of Columbia. Safe Shores provides intervention, hope and healing for children and families affected by abuse, trauma and violence in the District of Columbia, and prevents child abuse through education and training. Orpik was recently named the Capitals' King Clancy Memorial Trophy nominee for the 2017-18 season. The trophy goes “to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.”
