The National Indo-American Museum (NIAM)'s 2019 Gala

RAISED $53,475
GOAL $0

Welcome

NIAM is a charitable non-profit founded in 2008 to honor the heritage and contributions of the nearly five million Indian Americans in the United States. Indian Americans, one of the fastest growing ethnic groups in the country, are among the most successful entrepreneurs and professionals in a wide variety of fields such as IT, healthcare, education, engineering and the arts. At our gala, hundreds of such individuals gather to celebrate their heritage and give back to their community. A capacity crowd will join us to celebrate a milestone event at our 2019 Gala--the gift of a building in Lombard and its planned 2020 opening.

It is from the generosity of many that NIAM continues to preserve the history and promote understanding of the contributions and culture of Indian Americans. Like many non-profits, NIAM generates revenue from donations, grants, and special events, including our gala. This year’s gala, will take place on November 10th at the Westin in Lombard, Illinois. The gala will be attended by approximately 300 NIAM supporters and will help sustain the necessary funds to preserve the Indian American experience through programs like the Gandhi Peace Project, a free program provided by NIAM designed to teach Chicago’s school children about Gandhi’s peace and nonviolence practices. Additionally, NIAM is preparing to move into our first brick and mortar space in Lombard, which was generously donated to NIAM by Umang and Paragi Patel, and proceeds from the gala will go to an endowment fund to help NIAM maintain our new home.
