[CANCELLED] Tribute to Education 2020

At Global Village Project, our highest priority is not only the health and wellbeing of our students and their families, but also our extended community. To prevent the spread of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic across our community, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel Tribute to Education, our April 19, 2020 event.

We believe at this time that cancelling this annual fundraiser is the best way to protect the wellbeing of our community members and their loved ones from COVID-19. At the same time, Tribute to Education contributes vitally to Global Village Project’s ability to provide necessary services to our students and families; last year alone, we raised over $240,000 at Tribute to Education to support the education of refugee young women in Atlanta. This represented 20% of our total fundraising for the year. Therefore, we are asking that even in the absence of an in-person event, you keep the refugee young women at Global Village Project in mind during these difficult circumstances. Thank you for your interest in attending Tribute to Education 2020, a gala for Global Village Project. This year we look forward to hearing a spectacular performance by the GVP Ensemble, to auctioning off some very fun vacation homes and experiences, and to bringing together old and new friends in support of our school. We hope you will join us on April 19th!

We expect 300 attendees to join us at Tribute to Education this year - most attendees are friends from in-town communities including Decatur, Druid Hills, Midtown, and Buckhead. The event remains a key component of our school’s continued services and ongoing development. Every dollar generated by Tribute to Education helps us provide life-changing educational opportunities to refugee young women. With your support, we know that we can exceed our 2020 goal of $270,000!

About GVP: For the past 10 years, Global Village Project has been operating in the heart of Decatur, providing tuition-free, middle school education for refugee girls and young women who have experienced interrupted education.
