This substantial scroll paperweight dates to the 20th century, created by an unidentified Chinese artist. It measures 11" x 6" x 2". It is in excellent condition.
This piece is a beautiful example of art and function in harmony. The painstaking arrangement of hand-cut flowers encased in clear acrylic functions as a 20th-century version of ancient traditional Chinese scroll weights. To prevent the curling of silk scrolls when being read or viewed, the weight would hold the scrolls edge in place. As a modern piece, this piece can be used in many ways, such as a paperweight, or simply for the aesthetic pleasure derived from its artistic beauty.
