Description
This one-of-a-kind piece of embroidery art began with a high-definition photo. The photo was printed on canvas, maintaining the original details, colors, and definition captured by the photographer. It was then stretched on an embroidery frame and this is where the real magic began. David’s goal is to have people look at his paintings and think they are oil paintings, only to find when they get closer, that the entire painting was hand-stitched.
When David is stitching, the photo takes on a life of its own. A black area he will see as blue, green, or brown. Everyone sees colors differently, giving him the opportunity to change the photo into what he sees and not what the photographer saw when the photo was taken. The slight changes in shades can create a completely different look for the piece of art. When finished, the canvas is stretched and prepared for framing.
