Sayyida Hasan
Sayyida Hasan, a medical student at Rush Medical College, proposes to improve musculoskeletal health for women in Humboldt Park, Chicago, through a partnership with the Salvation Army's Freedom Center. The program combines educational presentations on MSK health with engaging self-defense workout classes, emphasizing physical activity and prevention of chronic conditions. The initiative provides a supportive community environment to empower women with the knowledge and skills to enhance their overall well-being. Sayyida seeks to raise $1,800 to support various aspects of the program, including $200 for creating pamphlets and brochures, $1,000 for multivitamins to promote preventative care, $200 for small care packages as incentives for participants, and $300 for breakfast and energy-boosting foods for participants before workout classes. By fostering partnerships, securing ongoing funding, and developing comprehensive program materials, the project aims to create lasting impacts in this under-resourced area.
