Artist Statement: The Yampa River is our life-blood. When we see that the river is thawing at a rapid pace, or that it is thawing early, there is a need for concern. Luckily this year, [at the time of writing] there is still much snow on the ski hills, but this is a reminder of our vigilance.
Artist Bio: Gregory Effinger was born and raised in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. His artistic talents were recognized early on, winning many awards and college scholarships that brought him into Communication, Arts and Commercial Illustration. He paints sceneries of the American West, streetscapes and rural communities. Greg is a private pilot, and his travels give him the opportunity to paint anywhere around Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, capturing stunning inspiration from the cockpit. He spends several weeks every year in Mexico and paints Plein Air in the Mexican heartland. Greg also operates a graphic design agency. His oil and watercolor-based illustrations and custom-designed logos are in demand nationwide.
