Artist Statement: Glacier lilies are the beckoning sign of spring. First to sprout, they punch through the late season snows and harken the coming warmth of summer. This plant is one of the many intricate parts to our diverse ecosystem. With the changing global temperatures, one wonders whether these beacons of hope will be snuffed out. The health of the ecosystem means the continued cooperation of all of its partners, the aspen forests, and the tiny lily have their part to play. My painting, "Glacier Lilies", focuses on the lilies as I find them in nature, sprouting early in the cold, among the shrinking hoards of snow we have accumulated in the winter months.
