Welcome
Women’s Energy Network of Greater Oklahoma (WEN OK) is a non-profit organization with the mission to educate, attract, retain, and develop energy professionals. One way we deliver on our missions is by educating the future generation on opportunities available in the energy sector, specifically in STEAM focused careers.
The underrepresentation of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields is a persistent issue that continues to hinder the advancement of these disciplines. Currently, women only make up 28% of the workforce in these areas. The gap is particularly large in the field of engineering, having only 16.5% of the workforce being women.
One way WEN OK is helping to lessen this gap is by teaming up with organizations that make it their mission to provide girls with positive experiences and access to relevant science and research at an early age, breaking stereotypes that can dissuade interest as they grow. Last year we partnered with Science Museum Oklahoma (SMO) to raise funding for their annual Women in STEAM Conference. This conference is designed to showcase diverse careers and earning potentials of these fields through panel discussions of industry professionals and tools for teachers to encourage girls and support learning opportunities. We are back in Tulsa this year, partnering with Discovery Lab to fund their annual program, “Introduce a Girl to Engineering”. In the past years over 2,000 girls benefitted from this program through in-person instruction and outreach kits. WEN OK wants to continue to match this number this year and we are asking your help to do so!
How can you help? Join us for the WEN OK “Energize Her Future” gala on October 25th, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. All funds raised at the gala will benefit the “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” program and Discovery Lab. We are "running into her future" this year! Cocktail attire paired with sneakers is encouraged. The night will include a cocktail hour, dinner, music, live auction, awards, and more! We kindly ask that you consider sponsoring this event and have several sponsorship levels available.
