Avenue builds affordable homes and strengthens communities. Vision We improve our communities to enhance the quality of life of working families, and to promote healthy, vibrant, and economically diverse neighborhoods to ensure Houston’s future as a world-class city. Avenue’s holistic community development program includes: • Promoting and preserving homeownership through education and counseling • Developing energy-efficient affordable homes for purchase and rent • Operating high-quality rental housing and providing supportive services to residents • Promoting economic opportunities • Community building and engagement Avenue has helped to stabilize our community. We have stabilized the population base by providing quality affordable housing, preventing low-income residents from being displaced. We have encouraged compatible development patterns by strategically developing vacant lots—particularly corner lots—with single-family homes. Avenue has preserved historic architecture in our target community—both through our development strategy referenced above, and through our program of rehabilitating homes for low-income homeowners.
