Visiting Nurse Association
Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) is a nonprofit organization that has provided compassionate and expert services to better the lives of people in the Omaha community for 125 years. Since 1896, VNA has been at the forefront of public health and family service provision by operating innovative programs that serve the unique healthcare and supportive services needs of vulnerable individuals and families regardless of the complexity of care or ability to pay. VNA helps approximately 48,000 individuals needing assistance to remain independent and safe in their homes by providing educational and supportive services that help position families for lifetime success and breaking cycles of poverty.
VNA works within a continuum of other service providers and with local collective impact organizations that together provide the resources needed to improve the life and health of the people in Nebraska and western Iowa. VNA addresses the interrelated issues of poverty, family economic instability, homelessness, poor health, low health literacy, and a lack of healthcare resources through a client-centered, strength-based, and multifaceted approach that meets immediate needs, educates participants on identifying and meeting their needs independently and connecting to collaborative supports.
Easterseals Nebraska merged operations with VNA in 2012 and provides programs to help ensure all people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to live, learn, and work. Services include job training and employment; camp and recreation for children, young adults, senior citizens, and military; financial services including low-interest rate and longer-term loans; and agriculture rehabilitation services to Nebraska farmers and ranchers.
