Artist: Diana Johnson
The focus of my work is the Maine landscape. Painting is my way to share what I notice about the natural beauty of Maine. While standing at my easel in a field, cove, or marsh, I enjoy the warmth of the sun and the feeling of the air moving around me. My first impression of a scene becomes a lasting impression when I paint it.
Every year I try to paint at the Burnett Road bridge area at Wolfe's Neck Center for Agriculture & the Environment. This painting is inspired by the late afternoon light on the beach next to the bridge.
Years past I liked to watch people dig for clams near this beach.
Research on climate change has shown that clam harvests are declining at the same time sea temperatures are rising. As Leonardo da Vinci wrote, "Realize that everything is related to everything else".
My paintings can be seen locally at Yarmouth Frame and Gallery as well as on my website: DianaJohnsonFineArt.com
