My work is very much about capturing a sense of place more than the literal details of a scene to be painted. All my work is grounded in landscape, whether it is my abstract field and sky or the working waterfront series. I believe that keeping our wild places open and accessible, especially during a global pandemic is critically important to our mental health and overall wellbeing. My painting for this auction is an icon tractor at Wolfe's Neck, and although tractors use fossil fuels to run, they are nevertheless still a central part of farming the land and providing fresh produce and foods for us. If we farm sensibly and sustainably we can work with nature to keep us all healthy as we move into the future.
