Description
Society Man enters the Derby with a conspicuous pattern of improvement. Maiden winner two starts back, he followed with a surprising 106-1 runner-up finish in the Grade 2 Wood Memorial. The race may have been better than it looks. Society Man was three wide most of the race. Having started only five times, Society Man has room to improve. When the light bulb goes on for a 3-year-old colt in spring, there is no telling how good he can become. Society Man rallies from off the pace, but has enough natural speed to be midpack. He should be positioned in front of late-running lower-odds rivals Sierra Leone and Catching Freedom.
