Wine Down on False River 2024 Silent Auction

Welcome

Thank you for supporting New Roads Main Street and the Arts Council of Pointe Coupee. The silent auction will be open from 6:00pm on Saturday, April 6 until noon on Sunday, April 14. This year, we are changing it up a bit and doing a Chase Mullen Auction! When he issues prints, they usually sell out fast, so here is your chance to snag one.

About Chase Mullen:

If you haven't had the chance to see Chase's intricate work, you can check out his Solo Exhibition at the Louisiana Arts & Science Museum, which opens in March of 2024. Chase Mullen's paintings are a contemporary take on southern wildlife and culture, heavily influenced by antique field guides and early scientific illustration. Using a realist painting technique, they draw attention to anatomy and juxtaposition of the environment both organic and man-made. There is an underlying tension of balance through transition. The artist carefully contextualizes the unique natural history of the south to convey underlying themes of nature, culture, and place. As Chase told Country Roads Magazine, “I was heavily inspired by Audubon and his works, and I’ve always liked older, scientific illustrations,” noted Mullen. “I took that style and set out to make it more contemporary—to make something that would work outside of the antique look of illustration.”

We hope you enjoy what we have to offer! Happy bidding!
